FIF Committees

FIF has standing committees to address front office, back office, and market data technology initiatives including the following:

  • Front Office: Focuses on order management and trading system issues resulting from proposed rule changes (SEC, FINRA, SROs) and other initiatives impacting exchange traded equities and options, and OTC transactions.  Topics related to Reg NMS Plan requirements as well as Regulatory Reporting are frequently on the meeting agenda.
  • Back Office: Provides guidance and insight on implementation issues relating to exchange, utility, and industry initiatives as well as regulatory changes affecting securities processing and reporting. Topics include DTCC/FICC/NSCC initiatives, as well as OATS, EBS, LOPR, MSRB and TRACE reporting. The Committee also discusses Options Clearing (OCC) and fixed income (TMPG) issues. Regulators and SROs often give updates on current and upcoming regulatory initiatives.
  • Market Data Technology: Brings together the impacts of market trends, innovation and regulation on market data and technology. Each month, an industry expert is invited to present a “Spotlight Topic”, setting the stage for group discussion on a variety of timely market data technology topics. Meetings also include a presentation of monthly Market Data Capacity Reports, a summary of exchange and SIP technical notices and updates, and a review of recent or upcoming regulations that impact market data.
