Overview

An industry wide test is conducted annually by SIFMA to assess the ability of securities market participants to operate from their primary or backup data centers or recovery sites in order to examine the level of resiliency of the markets and the industry overall.  The exercise is supported by all major exchanges, markets, and industry utilities. FIF manages the service bureau and market data vendor component of the annual industry-wide business continuity test.

The products in scope are equities, options, and fixed income from order entry through execution, clearance and settlement.  This critical exercise allows firms and organizations to submit test orders and transactions and receive simulated execution reports. It also tests their backup communication and connectivity with the exchanges and utilities.

Testing in 2017 will be expanded to meet industry test requirements in accordance with Reg SCI. This year’s test will be held on Saturday, October 14, 2017.  If you are responsible for Business Continuity Planning at a Service Bureau or Market Data Vendor and would like to participate, please contact the FIF Program Office at + 1 212 422 8568 or fifinfo@fif.com.
