Edward Jones Offers New Managed Account Options

Edward Jones is providing advisors with a new, more personalized, investing model for clients, according to documents filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission. A story in Financial Advisor news states that personalized research models will consider factors unique to each client’s situation to create a recommended portfolio. Edward Jones’ research models allow investors to choose an objective for their portfolios and delegate daily investment decisions to Edward Jones's home office research analysts, according to the firm’s website. The models include mutual funds and exchange-traded funds. Edward Jones offers two types of research models: defined research models and personalized research models. A defined research model is pre-constructed by Edward Jones using select funds and invests according to predetermined percentages across different asset allocation categories. Personalized research models, on the other hand, consider client specifics such as existing assets, potential capital gains and losses, and the characteristics of the overall portfolio, and they draw upon a larger group of funds than the defined research model does, according to the SEC filing.
