Fidelity Plans for Advice in the Metaverse
According to a story in Financial Advisor news, Fidelity Investments expects the next generation of investors to turn to the metaverse for investment advice. And when they do, the Boston-based industry giant aims to be the brand that investors go to for nonfungible tokens, crypto currency, mutual funds and retirement products, recent filings suggest. Fidelity filed several trademark applications with the U.S Patent Trademark Office protecting its brand name and logo for use "in the metaverse and other virtual worlds." The Dec. 21 applications show that the company aims to provide workshops and seminars on marketing financial services in the metaverse as well as to deliver financial education to investors. Fidelity plans to help investors buy and sell not only NFTs and crypto, but also mutual funds, retirement funds, private placement funds, initial public offering deals and even real estate assets in the digital world, the filings suggest. The company also sketched out plans for helping investors to trade cryptocurrencies, maintain digital currency wallets and crypto storage services and trade NFTs.
