Data & Technology Committee

The Data & Technology Committee will have its next call on Wednesday March 27 at 10 am ET to review capacity, latency and volume data for the prior month for the equity, options, currency, crypto and futures markets. The spotlight presenter will be Adrian Griffiths and Geralyn Endo of MEMX, who will provide an update on the launch of the MEMX Options Exchange.

SEC Rule on Short Position and Short Activity Reporting

FIF has scheduled the next call for the FIF Short Sales / Reg SHO / Short Interest Reporting Working Group for Thursday March 28 at 2 pm ET. The Working Group will review a draft letter to the SEC requesting further guidance relating to the implementation of SEC Rule 13f-2 on Short Position and Short Activity Reporting. A vendor will discuss a data product that could be used to identify equity securities for reporting. The Working Group will also discuss issues and questions from FIF members relating to implementation.

FINRA Trade Reporting Notice on Fractional Share Transactions

On March 22, 2024, FINRA published a Trade Reporting Notice to announce an upcoming change to the TRF and ORF systems to support reporting of fractional share quantities. The effective date will be no earlier than the first calendar quarter of 2025. This notice will be discussed during the following FIF calls this week: Front Office Committee (Tuesday at 11 am ET); Data and Technology Committee (Wednesday at 10 am ET); and CAT Transaction Reporting Working Group (Wednesday at 2 pm ET).
